Nets and Kempower's collaboration simplifies electric vehicle charging
Charging electric vehicles has been challenging for many due to complicated payment methods. The collaboration between Nets and Kempower offers a solution with clear and fast payment options that make charging significantly easier.
The popularity of electric vehicles is growing, but one significant barrier to widespread adoption has been the complexity of payment methods for charging. A study conducted by Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and Suomen Tuotetieto in 2023 showed that nearly every second electric vehicle owner is dissatisfied with the payment methods. This is a major issue for the appeal of electric vehicles.
Many EV drivers have had to use mobile apps or different identification tags to pay, and each charging station may have its own payment method, which is difficult to predict. This has slowed down the use of charging stations and naturally reduced the customer experience. Unclear payment methods have caused many to reconsider buying an electric vehicle.
The collaboration between Nets and Kempower makes charging and paying for fully electric vehicles easier. It also complies with EU directives aimed at simplifying and standardizing payment methods at charging stations. Thanks to our collaboration, EV drivers can now pay quickly and easily with Visa and Mastercard, as well as mobile payment options like Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Nets' payment systems, combined with Kempower's market-leading charging speeds, create a seamless charging experience from start to finish. Customers no longer need to download separate apps or carry identification tags, making charging as easy as traditional refueling and improving customer satisfaction. Without standardized payment systems, the costs of charging can vary even at the same provider’s stations and apps. Nets' payment solution guarantees transparent pricing, making costs predictable and increasing consumer trust.
Together with Kempower, Nets provides modern and secure payment solutions for charging stations, making charging easy and smooth.
We are pleased with our collaboration with Kempower, which provides EV drivers with an easy and fast way to pay for charging. This collaboration is part of Nets' broader plan to develop payment options for electric vehicle charging. We are proud that our software development center in Leppävaara, Espoo, can locally develop solutions that are competitive globally, says Nets' Key Account Manager Joona Kaarala.
